Feeling the roots of reciprocity. The Anabaptist traditions (and my heritage within those cultures) of pacifism and separation of church and state… have always made me acknowledge my global connection with all living beings.
I really like Elbows linked. Reaching out/connecting with others is so important. We really do need to strengthen connections that offer hope, resiliency and what we truly value. Shalom!
Yes, linking elbows after raising them is the way to go, and after that, maybe some dancing. But it's the image of the entwined roots that got me thinking: Roots don't come together, they go farther out and deeper down into the ground, splitting off into more and more branches as the organism grows. Besides drawing water and nutrients, the roots anchor the plant to the earth. So the ties are points of origin, not destination. Solidarity is inherent in the plant itself; differentiation and distance actually help maintain cohesion.

Love this idea Leah! Linked together in communities and across borders... Thank you!

Thanks for your beautiful reflection on the metaphor of roots!
